Co-Sponsored Webinar: Solving California’s Affordable Housing Crisis: Innovative Policy Approaches
Thursday, May 8 | 3:30pm ET, 2:30pm CT, 1:30pm MT, 12:30pm PT
Numerous bills and measures have been passed at the state and local levels in California over the last few years to support affordable housing and homelessness prevention. Yet public sector efforts alone cannot solve a housing crisis of this scale. States like New York, Illinois, and Massachusetts have laws that incentivize reinvestment by financial institutions to support their housing strategies, meet the financial needs of low- and moderate-income communities and communities of color, and increase integrity and accountability in financial services.
It is time for California, with one of the largest economies in the world, to ensure that corporations profiting from doing business in the state play a strong role in deploying private capital to meet the housing needs of our communities.
Join us for a funders-only virtual briefing and conversation with foundation, public sector and community leaders on the importance of corporate accountability in tackling the housing crisis. Presenters will share policy strategies to address the capital gap by increasing banking sector investment in affordable housing and BIPOC homeownership.
Learn about innovative solutions and campaigns underway now that could generate significant resources and data to address the state's affordable housing crisis, stabilize neighborhoods, and build climate resilience.Speakers

Portland, OR | Monday, June 3, 2024 | 10:30am - 1:30pm PT
Homelessness has surpassed the point of crisis in Oregon, now drawing additional attention through the Supreme Court case involving the city of Grants Pass and the recriminalization of drug possession largely related to public use by people living unhoused. Amidst this crisis, hope coexists.
On June 3rd in Portland, join your funder colleagues for a deep dialogue on principles of housing justice and where funders can align on strategic priorities. From 10:30am -1:30pm PT, we’ll hear from Funders Together CEO and racial justice leader Amanda Andere and feature the successes of regional funder networks who have invested in housing justice and effectively worked to reduce homelessness.
