Pre-Conference Leadership Intensive
Courage to Lead: Holding the Line, Building the Future
This closed-door, funder-only intensive will set the tone for the week by creating space for candid reflection, courageous conversation, and collective strategy. Through short provocations from movement leaders and peer-to-peer dialogue, participants will explore the dual responsibilities of resisting harmful policies and proactively resourcing long-term, community-led housing justice efforts. The session will integrate tools for grantmaking portfolio alignment, narrative power strategies, and scenario planning for philanthropy in an increasingly repressive political context.

Spotlight #2
From Defense to Offense: Philanthropy’s Role in Advancing Housing Justice Policy Under Contested Democracy
Across the country, pushback on housing justice is growing through criminalization, forced treatment, cuts to safety nets, and the erosion of democratic protections. Philanthropy can no longer afford hesitation—this is a moment to use its influence for cover, solidarity, and impact. This session explores how funders can move beyond defense to advance bold housing justice agendas at every level of government. Through real examples of policy wins, participants will gain clarity on what it means to resource advocacy and organizing courageously, strategically, and in solidarity with movements.

Preventing Homelessness through Rent Control: Philanthropy’s Opportunity
The work of ending homelessness requires us to stop it from happening in the first place. Enter rent control, a longstanding policy mechanism that keeps people in their homes and preserves affordability. This session will elevate a renewed campaign to expand rent control options across the country. We will understand its theoretical premise, practical benefits, and bipartisan support, situating it within a broader framework for homelessness prevention grounded in racial and housing justice. Material will be tailored for philanthropy with specific opportunities for foundations to engage.

Collaborative Strategy Lab
Co-Leading Through Challenges: A Case Lab for Funders and Partners
This interactive session brings funders and partners together to tackle real dilemmas using Funders Together for Housing Justice’s signature case consultation format. Participants will co-create strategies for navigating complex challenges in housing justice—serving as thought partners to one another through analysis grounded in courage, equity, and solidarity.
This format breaks down silos by inviting both funders and partners to think collectively about risk, accountability, and shared leadership. Participants will leave with concrete tools, actionable insights, and deeper cross-movement trust to help advance housing justice and racial equity in contested times.
