California Homelessness and Housing Policy Funders Network

The California Homelessness and Housing Policy Funders Network is generously supported by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

Overview

The California Homelessness & Housing Policy Funders Network (CHHPFN) is a network of private funders from across California, led by an advisory group, that mobilizes philanthropy to collectively support and elevate housing justice policies and goals at the state level. Housing justice in California will be actualized when all residents have the assurance of safe, secure, affordable, and dignified living conditions, as well as power and agency over how and where they live. We aspire to organize philanthropy in California behind a unified effort, based on housing justice values, to resource the housing justice movement's efforts to transform inequitable systems and to enable people most impacted by those systems to reclaim their power and agency.

Our collective network priorities around housing justice policy include:

1) Resourcing (Budget/Revenue)
2) Strengthening (Sector Capacity and Sustainability)
3) Preserving and Protecting

Our efforts around these priorities include educating state officials and policymakers on housing justice priorities from movement leaders and people with lived expertise of homelessness or housing insecurity, supporting grassroots leaders and organizations through our convening power and financial capital, and using our collective and organizational voices, when applicable, to support policy change that advance housing justice. We also aim to educate and organize philanthropy to create an understanding of housing justice and policy engagement to advance housing justice through grantmaking and advocacy support.

CHHPFN is organized and backboned by Funders Together to End Homelessness (FTEH). Funders Together is a national philanthropy-mobilizing organization that mobilizes its members to use philanthropy’s voice, influence, and financial capital to end homelessness by creating and advancing lasting solutions that are grounded in racial and housing justice, driven by love and disruption, and centering people with lived expertise.

Who Can Join?

Participation is limited to private funders in California. Only private funders (e.g. foundations, United Ways, corporate giving programs, philanthropy serving organizations, and members of Funders Together) located or funding in California will be allowed to participate.
