Funders are facing increasing challenges as they make the case within their institutions for investing in immigrant communities—particularly in a political environment where this work is often misunderstood or targeted. Yet we also know that moving resources to immigrant-led and immigrant-centered organizations strengthens equity, advances community power, and supports a wide range of philanthropic priorities, whether or not a foundation names immigration as a core issue.
To support funders navigating these dynamics, Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) has developed a new messaging toolkit, designed to help philanthropic leaders communicate the value of investing in immigrant communities—even in hostile or uncertain contexts. The toolkit will be released ahead of this webinar.
During this strategy session, GCIR staff will:
- Share compelling, values-aligned talking points that connect immigrant justice to broader philanthropic goals
- Address common concerns or hesitations that may arise within institutions
- Offer concrete guidance for integrating these messages into everyday philanthropic practice
The session will close with space for funders to reflect together, share experiences, and explore practical strategies for making the case for immigrant-centered grantmaking.
