Short-term host homes are an intervention for youth who are currently experiencing homelessness for any variety of reasons. The goal of short-term host homes is to provide a safe, temporary, and welcoming space that allows a young person time to repair their relationships with self-identified family or make decisions about other housing options with the support of a caring housing case manager. Point Source Youth is working to scale up effective solutions, like Host Homes, to end youth homelessness in numerous cities across the United States, including: Baltimore, Minneapolis, Louisville, Venice Beach, Los Angeles, San Jose, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Rochester, Seattle, and others.
Each of these communities uniquely implemented the host home program to fit the needs of their youth and young adults and have engaged with the funding community in a different way. We will be joined by staff at Point Source Youth and Amy Kleine from The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation to discuss the work that is happening in Baltimore and Los Angeles around Host Homes, how funders are currently engaging in this work, and where they are additional opportunities.
We will be joined by:
- Larry Cohen, Co- Founder & Executive Director at Point Source Youth
- Pilar Barreyro, Director, Northeast & Communications at Point Source Youth
- Orlando Roybal, Director, West at Point Source Youth
- Elvis Guzman, Program Officer, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation
- Tammy Marashlian, United Way of Great Los Angeles
- Alison Hurst, Founding Executive Director, Safe Place for Youth
Please RSVP below if you are able to attend. We look forward to an engaging discussion!
Please note that participation in this webinar is limited to private funders, including foundations, United Ways, corporate giving programs, individual philanthropists, and philanthropy serving organizations (PSOs).
