With great excitement, Funders Together for Housing Justice welcomes Rinal Ray as our next Chief Executive Officer. Beginning August 3, 2026, Rinal will lead the organization into its next chapter, drawing on more than two decades of experience advancing housing stability, strengthening communities, and building partnerships that create lasting systems change.
Following a national search conducted in partnership with Monday Morning Consultants, the Board of Directors selected Rinal for her collaborative leadership, deep commitment to equity, and extensive experience advancing housing justice across government, nonprofit organizations, and public policy.
“Throughout the search process, Rinal stood out as a values-driven leader who understands both the urgency of this moment and the long-term work required to advance housing justice. She brings a deep commitment to equity, a proven ability to build strategic partnerships across sectors, and a clear vision for how philanthropy can mobilize resources and leverage its influence to create lasting change. The Board is thrilled to welcome her to Funders Together for Housing Justice and looks forward to working alongside her as we continue building a future where everyone has a safe, stable place to call home.”— Bianca Alston, Chair, Board of Directors
Rinal joins Funders Together after serving as Assistant Commissioner for Housing Stability at Minnesota Housing, where she established and led the agency's Housing Stability Division. Previously, she served as Chief Executive Officer of People Serving People, one of the nation's largest organizations serving families experiencing homelessness. Throughout her career, she has worked across nonprofit leadership, government, advocacy, and public policy to advance more equitable housing systems and strengthen communities.
As she steps into the role of Chief Executive Officer, Rinal will lead Funders Together's work to strengthen philanthropy's role in advancing housing justice, supporting members, building cross-sector partnerships, and advocating for policies that ensure everyone has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.
The Board also expressed its deep appreciation for Interim Co-CEOs Jessica Venegas and Maegan Scott, whose leadership has guided the organization through this period of transition.
Reflecting on Rinal's appointment, Jessica and Maegan, Interim Co-CEOs shared:
"Serving as Interim Co-CEOs has been a tremendous privilege, and we are incredibly excited to welcome Rinal as Funders Together's next Chief Executive Officer. Throughout the search process, we were inspired by her collaborative leadership, her unwavering commitment to housing justice, and her ability to bring people together around a shared vision for change. We know she will build on the organization's strong foundation while helping deepen our partnerships with members, strengthen our movement relationships, and continue advancing bold solutions that move us closer to housing justice for all. We look forward to supporting Rinal as she begins this next chapter and can't wait for our community to get to know her."
Rinal shared:
“Housing is a foundation for dignity, belonging, and opportunity. Throughout my career, I've learned that meaningful change happens when we bring people together around a shared vision and build the relationships, trust, and courage to act. At a time when communities across the country are facing profound challenges, philanthropy has an important role to play in supporting bold solutions, shifting power, and investing in the leadership of those closest to the work.
I'm honored to join Funders Together for Housing Justice and excited to work alongside our members, staff, board, and partners to strengthen our collective leadership, deepen the organization's impact, and build the conditions for ambitious housing justice and strong organizational stewardship to reinforce one another. Together, we can help build a future where everyone has a safe, stable place to call home and the opportunity to thrive.”
Over the coming months, members and partners will have opportunities to meet Rinal, including during Funders Together's networking lunch at the National Alliance to End Homelessness Conference in Washington, D.C., and at the National Funder Summit on Youth Housing Stability in Seattle this August.
